Mitsubishi Motors in the UK announces new Rugby League partnership

Mitsubishi Motors in the UK is proud to announce that it has become an official partner of the Salford Red Devils.

The agreement will see the famous three diamonds #mitsubishi logo appear on the historic club’s playing shirts and replica shirts as headline #sponsor.

Lance Bradley, Managing Director of #mitsubishi Motors in the UK, said: ‘We are delighted to announce this new #partnership with the Salford Red Devils, who are a club with a fantastic history and an exciting future. The ethos and values of #rugbyleague align perfectly with our own, and Salford’s ambitions to become one of the strongest sides in the league also match our own plans for growth.’

As part of the agreement the club will receive nine #mitsubishi vehicles, including the multi-award-winning Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, which will be used by the non-playing staff.

Club Chairman Marwan Koukash said: ‘This year the club has got to work hard to stand on its own two feet, and securing a #partnership like this with #mitsubishi Motors is a major boost ahead of the 2016 season. It’s a fantastic start of things to come in terms of off-field investment, and we’re delighted to have #mitsubishi Motors on board.’

The First Utility Super League season, which is shown on Sky Sports, kicks off in February and it looks set to be an exciting time for the Red Devils on and off the pitch, with the vastly experienced former Australian National Team Head Coach Tim Sheens brought in as Director of #rugby to lead the new era.

Tim, who won the 2013 World Cup with Australia, said: ‘It’s a real honour for the players to be out there on the field with such a prestigious brand emblazoned on their chests. #mitsubishi Motors is an elite brand internationally and recognised across the world, and as a club we aspire to be the best at what we do in Super League.’

The new #partnership comes at a time when the #mitsubishi brand presence is growing rapidly in the UK. Figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders show that year-on-year growth through to October for #mitsubishi passenger cars was up 52 per cent, with the new Outlander PHEV and L200 Series 5 pick-up leading the charge.

The UK’s fastest-growing car brand is a keen supporter of sport and already has #partnership deals in place with #rugby union clubs Gloucester #rugby and Edinburgh #rugby. Next year also sees #mitsubishi celebrate 25 years as the title #sponsor of the world-famous Badminton Horse Trials.
