Club America 2016 away football kit

On May 29, 1966, #clubamerica played its first match in its new home, Azteca Stadium, or “El Azteca,” which remains the only stadium in the world to have hosted two world championship finals (1970 and 1986). 50 years later, #nike honors the club’s storied past with a new kit in a bold wine color that commemorates the shade worn by Club America’s international rival when the teams met in the stadium for that inaugural game.

As the club’s current right wing Paul Aguilar explains, “This new kit is special, is unique, is sacred. It represents the history of the team in a different way and reminds us that #clubamerica is destined for great things.”

The new away kit features Aztec patterns on the body, with a darker version of the burgundy shade over the shoulders and sleeves. On the chest, engineered knit zones create a geometric pattern that enhances fit. White shorts and burgundy socks complete the kit.

The new #clubamerica away kit is available via an exclusive digital pre-sale on the #nike Football app, #nike.com and wholesale partners on May 26. General sales begin May 29 at official retailers.

In addition to representing the Club’s legacy, the kit features the latest in #nike innovation and technology to improve the athlete’s performance.

Nike Dri-FIT Technology

Nike Dri-FIT technology draws sweat away from the body to the exterior of the shirts and shorts, where it quickly evaporates. This allows players to perform at their best by remaining cooler, drier and more comfortable.

The laser-cut ventilation holes and mesh panels in key areas of the kit are designed to improve performance by increasing air circulation to the players’ bodies and helping regulate their temperatures.

The jersey is crafted using mesh fabric that makes up the full front and back panels of the shirt, increasing airflow and facilitating enhanced movement.

Commitment to Sustainability

Nike leverages sustainable innovation for its football kits through the use of recycled polyester, delivering unrivaled performance and lower environmental impact.

The kit’s shirt and shorts are constructed with recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles melted down to produce a fine yarn. Each kit is made using approximately 16 recycled plastic bottles. Since 2010, #nike has diverted more than three billion plastic bottles from landfills into recycled polyester, enough to cover about 5,200 football pitches.
