Nissan launches films bringing fans to the heart of Team GB & ParalympicsGB ahead of Rio 2016

London, 28 April 2016 – With just under 100 days (99 days) to go until the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, #nissan Motor (GB) Ltd, Official Automotive Partner of the British Olympic Association (BOA) & British Paralympic Association (BPA), is stepping up the activation of its sponsorship with the release of two exclusive new films. The automaker is also opening up the Games to the British public, offering fans viewing the films a chance to win tickets to the Rio 2016 Games.

Committed to bringing fans to the heart of Team GB & ParalympicsGB, the exclusive content follows #nissan athlete ambassadors and Team GB medallists, Max Whitlock [Gymnastics] and Kat Copeland MBE [Rowing] and ParalympicsGB gold medallist Richard Whitehead MBE [Athletics]  as they ’train live’ with members of the British public. The ‘Be the Heartbeat of Britain’ live training sessions, which took place via Facebook on February 10th 2016, gave fans the opportunity to experience first-hand the gruelling training regime required in order to excite on the world’s biggest stage at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Charm (aged 75) and Chris (77) Robson from St Bees, Cumbria, who feature in the films, commented after joining the live training session: “It was an amazing and inspiring experience! I hope that by being part of this we were able to let these athletes know that they aren’t alone when they wake up early in the morning for gruelling training sessions, and that the whole nation is behind them as they prepare for and eventually head off to Rio”.

Chief Executive of the British Olympic Association, Bill Sweeney said: “We’re delighted to be working with #nissan on our road to Rio 2016, and are excited about the innovative approach they are taking to the partnership. Their new campaign will bring fans closer to our athletes like never before, helping us create a huge wave of support for the team this summer and inspiring them to achieve great performances in Brazil come August”.

Chief Executive of the British Paralympic Association, Tim Hollingsworth said: “The 2012 Paralympic Games inspired the nation to get behind our athletes and we’ve set our sights even higher for Rio 2016. Nissan’s support in bringing the nation to the heart British Paralympic team can only help us further our success and engage more supporters during the Rio 2016 Games.”
