Stuttgart. In 2017 Mercedes-Benz Vans expands its now three years of commitment to the #triathlon, and places its trust in woman-power – with the professional triathlete and reigning IRONMAN Hawaii champion #danielaryf as a new V-Class brand ambassador.
"We conceived our commitment to the #triathlon for sustainability from the start, and are continuously expanding it. We first supported female triathletes in 2016. This was well received. Accordingly, I am pleased that with #danielaryf, we have gained a successful reinforcement for our "PowerLadies" – that is what we call the professional female triathletes whom we support", says Sonja Schneemann, Head of Marketing Communications and Operations Mercedes-Benz Vans.
Daniela Ryf is a new V-Class brand ambassador
Swiss-born #danielaryf has been a professional triathlete since 2007. At the legendary IRONMAN in Hawaii she won first place twice in succession in 2015 and 2016. As a new brand ambassador for Mercedes-Benz Vans, the 29-year-old is henceforth on the road in a V-Class. Her first appearance for Mercedes-Benz Vans will be at the Laureus Sport for Good Tour in February – a campaign that takes place a week before the Laureus World Sports Awards and focuses on the work of the Laureus Foundation for the benefit of socially disadvantaged children and adolescents.
"I am pleased about the partnership with Mercedes-Benz Vans", says #danielaryf. "The V-Class is the perfect companion for me. It offers sufficient space for my equipment – from my bicycle to my sets of sports clothing. At the same time it allows me to make a stylish appearance at contests and other events."
In addition to #danielaryf, Mercedes-Benz Vans keeps supporting three other professional female triathletes who were also among the "PowerLadies" last year: Anja Beranek from Germany, Kaisa Lehtonen from Finland and Åsa Lundström from Sweden. The partnership with the currently second-best German professional triathlete Sebastian Kienle as well as the partnership with the international Sport for Good Team – which among others consists of Timo Bracht, Horst Reichel and Julian Beuchert – is also continued in the coming season. Jan Frodeno, the reigning IRONMAN Hawaii champion, has been a Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador since 2016.
Sponsorship of the IRONMAN European Tour is continued
In 2017 Mercedes-Benz Vans expands its sponsorship agreement for the races of the IRONMAN European Tour, of which the following are new in the coming season: IRONMAN 70.3 Luxembourg, IRONMAN Maastricht, IRONMAN Hamburg and IRONMAN Italy Emilia-Romagna. V-Class vehicles will be available at the contests to provide support and shuttle services. In addition, Mercedes-Benz Vans will have a local presence with a show stand at selected races. Here spectators can find out about equipment, care and service aspects, and exchange views with the athletes and experts.
