UEFA Executive Committee decisions in Paris

UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino explains the key decisions made by the #uefa Executive Committee at its meeting in Paris including matters related to #uefa #euro2016, the naming of a venue for the 2015/16 #uefa Futsal Cup and the scheduling of both an Extraordinary #uefa Congress and an Ordinary #uefa Congress. Hear more in the video soundbites as well as B-roll of the #event, which includes Mr Infantino's opening statement to the press conference.

The Executive Committee today held its last meeting of 2015 in Paris ahead of the #uefa #euro2016 Final Draw.

There was a decision to hold an Extraordinary #uefa Congress in Zurich on 25 February 2016 and to stage the 40th Ordinary #uefa Congress in Budapest on 3 May 2016.

An update was provided on the preparations for #uefa #euro2016 and the measures jointly taken by #uefa and the French authorities to allow all participants to enjoy a safe tournament inside and outside of the stadiums, reaffirming the commitment of placing security at the centre of the #event.

Also, regarding the #uefa #euro2016, a substantial increase in the amount distributed to the participating teams was approved. The 24 national teams will share a total of €301m compared to the €196m distributed at #uefa EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine and the €184m in Austria and Switzerland. Details of distribution are as follows:

• All 24 teams will receive a participating fee of €8m. During the group phase there are also performance bonuses of €1m for a win and €500,000 for a draw. Once #uefa #euro2016 enters its knockout phase, there are no more performance bonuses. Instead, the teams participating in the round of 16 will receive €1.5m, the eight quarter-finalists will receive an additional payment of €2.5m. The financial reward for reaching the semi-finals is an extra payment of €4m.

• For the two teams who take the field for the final at the Stade de #france in Paris on 10 July, the 2016 European champions will receive €8m while there will be a reward of €5m for the runners-up. This means that, if the winners of the title have also won all three of their group matches, the total prize money they earn will amount to €27m, compared with €23.5m in 2012.

The Spanish City of Guadalajara, home to Inter FS, was selected as the venue for the 2016 #uefa Futsal Cup Finals, which will be played from 21 to 24 April 2016 with the teams of SL Benfica (POR), Pescara Calcio (ITA), Ugra Yugorsk (RUS) and Inter FS (ESP).

Finally, the #uefa Executive Committee took note of the CAS decision relating to the provisional suspension of its President Michel Platini and requests a swift disciplinary process by the relevant FIFA bodies on the merits of the case.

The #uefa Executive Committee once again supported Michel Platini's right to a due process, fair trial and the opportunity to clear his name.
