Nike and Jordan brand unveil the 2017 BMH collection

Sport has the power to reveal truths about physical potential and be an agent for something grander: social equality.
Nike’s annual #nike Black History Month (BHM) collection has evolved from a single #nike Air Force 1 to an extensive #product assortment. Over the past decade plus, the message has also evolved from an honoring of African-American athlete achievement to a wider celebration of Black heritage and the power of #sport to fuel community action to create positive change.
In that vein, the limited edition 2017 collection incorporates a decorative marbling — blending black and white — in reference to the strength of harmonious movement. Each design in the collection is also punctuated by gold accents, reminders of the power of coming together and the aspiration of unity.
The #product assortment is highlighted by three signature basketball offerings: the #lebron14, #kyrie3 and #kd9. Both the #lebron14 and #kyrie3 are available across all men’s and young athlete sizes. Additional performance footwear includes Serena Williams’ #nike Flare, the #nike Lunar Epic and Jordan Trunner. An Air Force 1 Hi for men, AF1 Upstep for women and special-edition Air Jordan 1s for men and young athletes round out the footwear offering. 2017 BHM apparel includes the MVP jacket and pant and EQUALITY Tee for men and women.
The Black History Month collection celebrates Black heritage, in #sport and beyond, around the world and has historically provided financial support to Nike’s Ever Higher Fund, which was created to bring mentorship, #sport and all of its benefits to youth and their communities.
Nike is proud to support numerous organizations that provide services to underrepresented youth, including African-American youth, during the year. Long-time partners include the Jackie Robinson Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs, National Head Start and Coach Across America. #nike also recently announced two new partnerships with MENTOR and PeacePlayers International to expand opportunities for youth and promote diversity, inclusion and equality in communities across the U.S.
The EQUALITY tee is part of Nike’s ongoing commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. #nike will continue to follow the inspiration from our athletes and employees to uplift and bring people together in the following months and beyond. To learn more, go to #nike.com/equality. Those interested in PeacePlayers or MENTOR are invited to visit www.peaceplayersintl.org and www.mentoring.org.
The 2017 #nike BHM collection releases February 16 at #nike.com and select retailers in North America. The Jordan Brand's trio of shoes launch February 11.
