Sounds of Silence: X Shore eElectric 8000 Smögen Edition

Swedish serial entrepreneur and enfant terrible, Konrad Bergström, in collaboration with Hans Bergström, Jeppe Cavallie, Glenn Karlsson from Seamaster and Norra Norr design house, has developed a beautiful electrically propelled boat that mixes classical and contemporary Scandinavian design.

Scandinavian design In a state-of-the-art hull

X Shore #eelectric8000 has a distinctive Scandinavian design with clean, simple and functional lines. The hull of #eelectric8000 is designed by Glenn Karlsson, who has over 30 years of boat- building experience. Glenn competed and won the Swedish classic boat race Roslagsloppet. #eelectric8000 has an extremely lightweight hull, designed to take in air from the sides, thus creating a layer of air bubbles between the hull and the water. This leads to reduced friction and energy saving. Together with two propeller tunnels, the #eelectric8000 glides smoothly through the water.

Versatile

Flexibility, function, and easy maintenance have continuously been at the centre of development. #eelectric8000 is a boat that can be used at any time. #eelectric8000 open spaces allow you to easily load it or stretch out to bask in the sun. The rubber clad bow, makes it easy to moor. The bow also has built in steps, making it easy to climb aboard. The flexible seating areas in the stern make it easy to treat your friends to a noiseless evening ride while the sun is setting, anchor in natural harbor and go for an evening swim – climb out of the water from the recessed ladder located at the stern. A system of struts and rails makes it easy to secure different types of loads or add more seats. The raised bow in combination with the low stern creates different spaces in front of and behind the control column. The back space is furnished with chairs in classic Scandinavian design. Unbroken lines and large wooden surfaces provide a balance between a traditional boat interior and modern design. In front of the control column is a generous windshield with a clear view of the instruments as well as the navigation. An interesting detail is the air intake for the engine and battery, inspired by the South American electric eel.

Packed with energy

The #xshore #eelectric8000 has an advanced propulsion system with dual inboard motors and batteries. Each engine is a Torqeedo Deep Blue 80i 1800 that delivers 80 horsepower which is enough for speeds in excess of 25 knots. The batteries are made by BMW and feature an advanced water cooling system that provides longer battery life and maximum performance, giving #eelectric8000 a range of 80 nautical miles (148 km) at 10 knots.

“We want the owner of the #eelectric8000 to see the quiet journey as a part of the experience, to cruise the seas without disturbing wildlife and our sensitive waters. It's a magic feeling gliding across water, only hearing the wind and the sound of the bow splitting the waves." says Marcus von Euler, head of design at Norra Norr.

“The undisturbed experience of being one with nature and the sea, has been a goal throughout the development. A noisy engine will drown out the sounds of silence - we want the boat to be a part of the surroundings. In the same way you are enjoying nature from the boat, we want the boat to blend in with cliffs and nature, so others can enjoy the landscape. #xshore #eelectric8000 has a discreet moss #green color that matches its silent voyage. We all come from the ocean, we must learn to take better care of it." explains Konrad Bergström.

X Shore is a boat for the smart generation. It is economical, durable, and cleverly designed. And

it's quiet. We built it for you to love it.
