FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup 2018 - 2019 KItzbuhel, Austria

Italy’s #dominikparis won the men’s World Cup downhill in Kitzbuhel, Austria, on Friday with a total time of 1:56.82 seconds.

Paris produced a spectacular descent to replicate his successes of 2013 and 2017 - as he was the only competitor to dip below 1:57, with Swiss skier Beat Feuz (+0.20) again squeezed out to runner-up position.
Paris was the star of the show with his second stage win of the 2019 season, while Feuz was a model of consistency and there was joy for the locals as Otmar Striedinger (+0.37) snatched third place.
It was Hannes Reichelt who began proceedings, working his way through the high speed turns to set the pace with an opening run of 1:57.93.

But the Austrian veteran was replaced at the top by Josef Ferstl of Germany after risky turns placed him at the summit by one-hundredths of a second.
Feuz was next, and a courageous run on point from start to finish glided him into the lead by nine-tenths of a second, a lead that appeared unassailable.
In one of the toughest downhills in the world, just completing the track on race day is an achievement in its own, with both Vincent Kriechmayr and Brice Roger only narrowly avoiding nasty falls on the perilous terrain.

After the gasps of breath came Paris' blistering run, and the Italian's compatriot Christof Innerhofer then moved ahead of Benjamin Thomsen into a place on the podium.
But having long dreamed of a top-three finish, Innerhofer's joy was short-lived as Striedinger took advantage of the improving weather conditions to claim third spot.
