BMW International Open 2019: a start worthy of world champions with Lahm, Müller and Siem benefits the Nicolaidis YoungWings foundation.

Top-class start to the tournament week at the #bmwinternationalopen (19th to 23rd June, Golfclub München Eichenried): the first round belongs to three world champions. In the morning, Philipp Lahm and Thomas Müller (football World Cup winners in 2014) and Marcel Siem (Golf World Cup winner in 2006) played the Championship Course in Eichenried.

An auction to benefit the “Nicolaidis YoungWings Stiftung” was won by Dr. Christian Näther, who then had the opportunity to join this exclusive round. Müller is an ambassador for the charitable organisation that provides target-group-oriented counselling and long-term bereavement support for young #people who have lost a life partner and for children dealing with the death of one or both parents.

Thomas Müller: “The course plays longer than I expected and the rough is thick. The greens make an excellent impression and you can almost compare them to figure skating ice. We play a tournament every year for the YoungWings foundation and last year we auctioned off the round with Marcel, Philipp and me. Many thanks to Christian for winning the auction and thanks to the organisers for allowing us to play here. It is so much fun!”

Philipp Lahm: “We only played nine holes but Thomas always needs more help from me than I do from him. But Thomas is still in perfect condition and I’m sure he can still make it around the back nine. So far, we have managed to keep the deficit down to a reasonable level.”

Marcel Siem: “I have never seen the #golf course in such good condition - massive congratulations are in order for the whole team. We will certainly see some different scores this year, as the greens are harder and allow the setting of more difficult pin positions. As a young Eichenrieder back then, I am very proud to present a fantastic German course like this to the international players. I am looking forward to the #bmwinternationalopen.”
