C.B.T. Italia at The Giro E 2022

The “FREE TO X Autostrade//per l’Italia” team is competing with the ARTIK-09. The Cuneo-based company is testing technical and electronic solutions for e-bikes in this bike stage race, to implement in its future eroad bikes.
C.B.T. Italia is participating as a protagonist in the 4th edition of the Giro E, an e-bike race that follows the path of the Giro d’Italia, as a technical partner of the “FREE TO X Autostrade//per l’Italia” team.

The team has won two of the six stages ridden so far and has worn the cyclamen jersey, which indicates the leadership in the general classification. It is currently in second place.
The brand based in Cuneo, Italy, provides the electric road bikes with which athletes will be cycling across Italy, a race with 12 other competing teams.
The team is led by Andrea Tafi, a professional cyclist active between 1988 and 2005 who competed in many international races, winning Paris-Roubaix, the Tour of Flanders (the only Italian cyclist to
ever win both races), as well as an Italian championship.

The team’s bike is the ARTIK-09, a hightech e-bike made in Italy with a careful design, envisioned, designed and built entirely by C.B.T. Italia. This bike features a frame in carbon fibre and the popular geometries of the company’s traditional models (one of its bikes once won the Tour de France
Femmes), making it a patented hightech product and a highly efficient motor on its hub.
Despite only weighing 2,300 grams, its battery is one of the very best on the market: C.B.T.’s accumulator guarantees 378 nominal Wh and 430 actual Wh.

This combination benefits from the special “horseshoe” frame, which keeps the battery firmly on the bike with an automatic locking system, thus eliminating any noise or vibration.
All the tolerances of the composite tubes that make up the backbone of the ARTIK-09 have been pushed to the limit (in the tenth of a millimetre range), so that the whole bike is homogenous, without movement or noise.

The miniaturised brushless motor on the hub echoes the sleek lines of traditional race bikes, is highly efficient and guarantees optimal weight distribution and great uphill performances.
Its rolling resistance due to the absence of a gear mechanism, just like a traditional bike, makes this e-road bike ideal to ride also on flat sections where there is no electric assistance, which makes it
an ideal bike for such races.

The version of the ARTIK-09 used in the race weighs 13.180 kg (with mounted pedals) in the 54 cm size and boasts top-quality components, with the Shimano Ultegra group, the Fi’zi:k Vento Argo R5 saddle, the light alloy handlebar stem and the Deda Zero 100 seat post, Deda Zero handlebar and seat post, DT Swiss wheels and Michelin tyres.
The Giro E is an opportunity for C.B.T. Italia to develop technical and electronic solutions that will then be implemented into future e-road bikes.
The ARTIK-09 comes in five sizes, from 49 to 58, and is available in various options starting from € 5,170, purchasable on http://www.cbtitalia.com

The Giro E takes place on the same days and on the same routes of the Corsa Rosa, with 18 stages for a total of 2,000 km. The finish line will be in Verona on 29th May. This is the main pedal-assisted
race event in Italy. It aims at raising awareness on the importance of sustainable mobility for the national economy and to protect the environment.
C.B.T. ITALIA also shares this adventure with Deda, fi’zi:k, EbikeBattery, Michelin, Cioccolato Oliva and Scatolificio Pack Service.
