Celebrating a decade of dedication with CP3

Chris Paul’s #jordanbrand signature line has always incorporated two consistant inspiration points: premium performance innovation and ties to Paul’s family.
Fittingly, the 10th iteration of the line, the Jordan #cp3.X, introduces a new lockdown system and pays homage, through celestial symbols, to the athlete’s children.
PERFORMANCE BASKETBALL INNOVATION
“There comes a point when you’re like, alright, let’s flip the switch and do something different. And 10 seemed like the perfect time to do that with it being a milestone occasion,” explains Justin Taylor (J.T.), lead designer on the Jordan #cp3.X. “CP wanted to be different. We wanted to be different. We all wanted to breathe new life into this model.”
The Jordan #cp3.X’s performance is rooted in lockdown and directional support — keys to CP’s signature playing style. The shoe’s new dual pulley system, which integrates Dynamic Flywire technology, locks down the top of the foot and engages the Flywire to secure both sides at the same time. A signature support wing provides support on the outside of the foot and in the heel for quick response.
In addition to the new lockdown system, the Jordan #cp3.X’s Flyweave upper has minimal seams and layers to provide a great one-to-one fit and a ‘broken in’ feeling right out of the box. For durability and added traction, the shoe’s medial toe rubber protects the foot during a cross over and as J.T. says, “provides more support for a quicker change in direction.”
FAMILY
Chris Paul regularly wears a necklace with pendants of his kids’ and wife’s zodiac signs as a reminder that family comes first. Those symbols, along with long exposure photography of the star patterns, inspire the signature molding seen on the outer support wing of the Jordan #cp3.X.
Leo, Gemini, Taurus and Aquarius zodiac signs are etched into the shoe’s archway to represent all members of the Paul family – his daughter, son, wife and CP, respectively. Additionally, seven different symbols representing CP’s accomplishments during his tenure as a #jordanbrand athlete are etched into the opposite archway. Together, these icons serve as a reminder of family and performance on the court.
