Nikelab x Stone Island Windrunner

The innovative companies collaborate on a progressive jacket that speaks to both their respective heritages and the future

Nike’s first foray into athletic outerwear debuted in 1979, with the #nike #windrunner.  Representing the company’s timeless design mandate to harmonize form, function and emotion, the jacket solved a simple, yet unanswered runner demand: non-inhibiting protection against the elements. Just three years later, Stone Island was founded in Italy, defined by a similar drive to innovate. Challenging material and textile norms, by pairing military and workwear inspirations with innovative fabric treatments and dying techniques, it introduced wonderfully nuanced, technical jackets for everyday life. The ensuing decades saw both companies emerge as leaders in their respective fields.

The companies’ individual and original expertise come together in the #nikelab x Stone Island #windrunner. The second installment of an ongoing collaboration, the garment showcases #nike and Stone Island’s shared interest in innovation at the same time it evidences a new reality: The combined insights of the craftsman, the artist, the engineer and the manufacturer, previously a very rare combination, is the key to evolution.

The jacket can be packed into its left pocket and carried by the wearer with an attachable strap.

The #nikelab x Stone Island #windrunner is available beginning September 8 at select #nikelab retailers and Stone Island Flagship Stores, #nike.com, stoneisland.com and – for North America – on the Stone Island App.
