Hublot - Athletes meet on the Top of Europe

Dario Cologna – one of the best cross-country skiers of all time – and Asafa Powell, one of the fastest athletes in the history of the discipline, took on a unique challenge. They competed over 100 metres at an altitude of 3454 metres. A flying start for Cologna on snow and a starting pistol for Powell on the track, each on a route created specially for this unique race. Cheering them on from the sidelines were Mujinga Kambundji, one of the country's best sprinters, and her team-mates from the 4 x 100 metres, as well as top Swiss wrestler Kilian Wenger, an ambassador for the Jungfrau region. The day after the 40th edition of Athletissima, the Jungfrau railway and Hublot took the most prestigious athletic discipline to new heights. After a flight over the three most stunning Swiss Alps – the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau – Dario Cologna and Asafa Powell - welcomed by the Swiss national women's 4 x 100 metres team – landed on the roof of Europe to compete over 100 metres. A race that brought together two of sport's gentlemen. Each in their preferred discipline. Power, strength, endurance, mental stamina and technique - values shared by both. DARIO COLOGNA – Hublot ambassador since 2010 – Flying start on snow One of the best Swiss cross-country skiers in history. Winner of three crystal globes, he was named Swiss of the Year 2012 and Swiss Sportsman of the Year 2013. In full summer training, this was the first time he had entered such a short sprint. ASAFA POWELL – Starting pistol on track Former holder of the 100 metre world record and the fourth fastest athlete in the history of the discipline. He was crowned 4 x 100 metre relay Olympic Champion in 2008 and World Champion in 2009. This was his first time competing at this altitude against a sportsman from another discipline. WOMEN'S NATIONAL 4 x 100 METRE RELAY TEAM The team, which has already qualified for the Rio Olympics in 2016, consists of Mujinga Kambundji, Fanette Humair, Marisa Lavanchy and Lea Sprunger. Meeting at the highest point in Europe, the Swiss relay athletes shared their passion for racing with the next generation of runners on an all- weather track laid for the occasion, alongside dozens of children who had come to meet their champions. Two Hublot trophies were brought in especially for the occasion. Marked with the Hublot logo, these trophies were created to honour the extraordinary careers of these elite sportsmen. Dario Cologna and Asafa Powell – two renowned athletes – were presented with these symbolic trophies by Kilian Wenger.
