The Volvo Ocean Race is the world’s toughest ocean race. Grand Prix sailing by the world’s best sailors, racing day and night for 39,000 miles around the world in nine leg stages.
The 12th edition of the race left from Alicante on Saturday October 11th. Seven teams, 66 sailors and 18 nationalities setting off in identical one design Volvo Ocean 65 racing machines.
The third leg will take the fleet back out into the Indian Ocean, leaving the Gulf for the Indian coast, then to the Malacca and Singapore straits. The fleet will need to choose between the Borneo or Vietnam routes to finally reach the Hainan island in China...
